Preparation for Easter!

desert riverThus says the LORD, who opens a way in the sea

and a path in the mighty waters …

See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth

do you not perceive it? In the desert, I make a way,

in the wasteland, rivers …’ ’” ~Isaiah 43:16,18–19

This upcoming week is the last week of Lent before Holy Week and the celebration of Easter! We must use the remaining time well to prepare ourselves for Easter! During the Season of Lent, we have a chance to be renewed and to draw closer to God through the Sacraments (i.e. Confession, Holy Communion) and through our Lenten fasting, penances, and sacrifices. God uses all of these as a means to make a way in the desert and rivers in the wasteland of our souls!

So many special things have happened already during this particular season of Lent. For example, as of last Wednesday, we have a new pope, Pope Francis. Also, today is the celebration of St. Patrick, the great Saint who brought Christianity to the people of Ireland.

May God, who makes a way in the desert and rivers in the wasteland, help us to prepare ourselves to celebrate Easter!
